A walk through volcanic-soil vineyards outside Ürgüp, then a guided tasting of local grape varieties in a rock-cut cellar, with alcohol-free options.

Cappadocia has made wine for thousands of years, and the volcanic soil around Ürgüp suits local grape varieties such as Emir and Kalecik Karası. The afternoon starts with a short walk through the vineyards with the winemaker, who explains the soil, the climate and the harvest.

The group then moves into a cellar carved into the rock, where the temperature stays cool all year, for a guided tasting of several local wines with bread, cheese and dried fruit. Every guest who prefers not to drink alcohol gets a parallel tasting of fresh grape juices and pekmez, the traditional grape molasses.

The tasting can be run as a light team quiz on aromas and grape varieties.
