Anıtkabir is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic, and the place most Turkish colleagues will expect a visiting group to see in Ankara. A licensed guide walks the group along the Road of Lions to the Hall of Honour, where visitors keep silent, and then through the museum underneath, which tells the story of the War of Independence and the early Republic. On request we apply for a wreath-laying for your company, which takes place with a short protocol.

After lunch near the citadel we visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, housed in a restored fifteenth-century bedesten and han. The guide follows the collection in order, from Çatalhöyük and the Hittites to the Phrygians and Urartians, and keeps it to the pieces that explain how people lived.

The day ends with a short walk up to Ankara Castle for a view over the city and tea in one of the old houses inside the walls.
