Ceramic workshop in an Urla studio

Urla has a lively community of artists and craftspeople, and several ceramic studios sit in the old town and on the road to the coast. This workshop takes place in one of them, in a bright studio with a garden.

After a short introduction to clay and the Aegean ceramic tradition, guests rotate between the potter's wheel and a hand-building table, guided by two or three ceramicists. Everyone makes a cup, bowl or small plate and chooses a glaze colour. Teams can also create a shared piece, such as a set of plates with the company's values or a mosaic panel for the office.

The pieces need to dry and be fired, so the studio ships them to your office or hotel within about three weeks. Tea, coffee and homemade snacks are served in the garden.
