The group is split into four or five negotiating parties — a manufacturer, a distributor, a logistics firm, a regulator — each with a public brief and a confidential one. The case is written around a supply deal in the region, with currency risk, a looming deadline and at least one party that has a reason to walk away.
The day alternates between negotiation rounds and short teaching blocks on preparation, anchoring, trading concessions and dealing with hard tactics. Rounds are recorded with the group's consent, and the facilitator plays back key moments to show where value was created or left on the table.
At the end, each party's result is scored against its confidential brief, and we compare outcomes across the room. The simulation is run by a facilitator who has negotiated commercially and teaches executive programmes, and it can be adapted to sales, procurement or partnership teams.
